Possibly Seeking Coaching (MTT/SNG)
I'm looking at finding a tutor or a coach, probably for long term. I'm not looking for a stake, or a bankroll. I'm looking for someone to help me improve my game to where I can take down MTTs and SNGs reliably to where I can afford to build my own bankroll from playing poker, and perhaps win enough to help me out in my own life.
A bit about me. I'm considerably older than most of the online poker crowd, at 35. I do work full time, although I'm currently looking for a better job right now, and if by some miracle I got good enough at poker to where I could do it for a living, I'd love it.
I got into poker about 2-3 years ago, thanks to all of the television coverage. I had played small draw and stud games before with friends, but never anything for money. I got onto FTP and Pokerstars back in 2005, but never realy did any good, because I simply wasn't that good of a poker player. I didn't play much in 2006, although I did a lot more watching of the various shows, playing some of the video games, and reading books on the subject.
I originally signed up on what was Neverbeg about a year ago, but didn't get active until November or December of last year. The first few weeks I was here...I took some minor stakes, and rarely cashed. To be honest, I wasn't much better then than I was two years ago.
Then, in random chat with Alpha3M, he took me on to help teach me more about the game. With what I've picked up from him, I've final tabled two tounaments in January for approximately $900, which I've used to help pay bills, as well as helping to fund a few BAPs on here and doing some staking.
However, Alpha3m's online times and mine really don't coincide as much, and he's busy with his business endeavors, and I seem to have hit a rut. I feel that I need more coaching to make it to the next level, and have let Alpha3m know this as well. My choosing to look for another coach has nothing to do with anything other than needing to actually talk with a coach from time to time.
As far as what I can offer? I don't know. Right now the deal with Alpha3m is that I give him 10% on any FTs I make while I'm under his wing, although I still need to pay him for my most recent FT. I can only promise to do the best that I can, and just need help to basically not suck so bad.
While my overall ROI is positive in MTTS (around 125%), February has been bad so far, and I'm down to about -30% this month. SnGs are worse, and the only thing I'm even remotely good at is 18-man $1.20s (-1%) and 36-man $2.20s (-1%).
Oh, and I currently have HOP, but will be petitioning to remove it next week. We'll see how that goes.
Thanks for reading, folks.

Just an update. At the moment, the only offer I can really make is the same one I had with Alpha3M: 10% of any MTT final table. I could probably adjust it to 10% of any cash, but would prefer to make it 10% of any cash over a certain amount (to be negotiated. $10? $100? somewhere in between?) so that the incentive to actually teach me to be better is there.
At the moment, until I can win another MTT (or until the BAPs I've funded finish) I'm reliant upon stakes. I hope to change that soon (looking for a new job), but there it is.

well i can tell by your itm rate that your trying to cash to much.... the best mtt players typically have an itm rate of 15-16% try being more aggressive.

Actually, as far as I can tell, I'm cashing usually because I'm chipping up early on, and then playing tight. I don't really ever go NIT or passive, I just get slightly more selective once blinds hit 50/100.
The only time I really get NIT is when I'm under 10x BB, then it's push/fold.
But, yes, I agree, I need to be more aggressive. I have that under 'refining my game' I need to know /when and where/ to be aggressive.
