  • I am new to PartTimePoker Staking and don't know what to do, can you help?
  • First off, welcome to the site.
  • Next, read through the Official PartTimePoker Staking Rules thread:
  • If your poker accounts are new you will need to wait at least 60-90 days to get the "New Player" tag removed from your profile. More information can be found in the following thread:
  • Keep an eye out for "new member" stakes, you won't start out getting staked for big buy-ins but as you build your reputation you will eventually get there.
  • And finally, read through the other questions in this section. There is a lot of useful information here that will make things easier on you if you go ahead and learn them.
  • If you have any more questions and can't find the answer feel free to message any of the Member Consultant's or just post a question in this section and one of us will try our best to help you.

  • How do I offer a stake? award a stake? close a stake?
Placing a stake is as easy as posting a thread in a forum and choosing a ‘horse’ (slang for the player you back). Three basic staking steps: Offering, Awarding, and Closing
  • Step one: Offering the stake.
    1. Decide on the details of the stake you want to offer – the amount, type of game, etc.
    2. Start a new thread in the Staking Headquarters of the site you want to stake at.
    3. First, put the basics of the stake (amount, type of game) in the title (if you want to stake a certain individual, just put private stake and their user name as title)
    4. Now put all details about who can / can’t apply (some people limit stakes to users with a minimum number of player points, some want to see sharkscope stats, etc), in the body of the post
    5. Indicate whether or not you’d like a detailed rail thread. A ‘rail thread’ is just a thread in our On The Rail forum where the horse posts hand histories, etc, from the stake. Every stake requires at least the Win/Bust hand of each stake played, but as the staker you can require the Horse to post a more detailed rail.
    6. Finally, enter the stake info. NOTE: This doesn’t go in the body of the post - it is filled in below it. Under the main text box, there’s an options row. Under that is a row labeled ‘Stake amount(s)’fill in amount and the % you’re requesting, make sure the Makeup box is checked if you are requiring it. (more on what makeup/cake means).
    7. If you are wanting more than one stake to be offered in this thread then click on the "Add another stake" link and fill in the stake info.
    8. Submit the thread.
  • Step two: Awarding the stake
    1. Go to the My Stakes area. The link to the My Stakes area is part of the group of links at the top of the forum.
    2. If you have more than one active stake, select the stake you want to assign. Clicking the stake you want to assign should take you back to your stake thread, but now you will see a button on the top right of all replies that says ‘place a stake.’ Click the button of the horse you want to back ( You can only choose a ‘horse’ that has replied to your staking thread.)
    3. The next step is to confirm that you have transferred the correct amount to the players poker account. Click the "confirm transfer" link and you’ll be taken to a page where you’ll get the Poker Account Username of the player you’ve chosen and the total stake amount. Once you have transferred the money on the Poker Site the stake is for, hit Confirm.
    4. The status message next to that stake should now read “Waiting for player to confirm money transfer.” After your horse confirms the transfer was received, the status message will change to ‘Waiting for player to announce winnings.’
    5. The stake has now been awarded to your horse. Go watch them play it! It makes the whole thing more fun. Follow along in their rail thread or just log on to the Poker site and search for your horse. Cheer them on from the rail!
  • Step three: Closing the Stake
    1. Go to your My Stakes area
    2. If your horse loses all of the stake funds, the status link on your stake should read ‘Confirm Winnings: $0.00.’ Click on that link and then confirm the information on the next screen. The status message next to that stake should now read ‘The Stake has Been Completed.’ It is, and you’re all finished with this stake.
    3. If your horse reports a win or partial loss, the status link next to the stake will read ‘Confirm Winnings:’ with the total winnings shown. Click the "confirm winnings" link.
    4. You’re taken to a summary screen of how much the stake was, how much was won, how much makeup is now owed (if any), etc. If it’s all good, click confirm. If some thing is wrong you can report abuse.
    5. You now have to wait for your horse to confirm that they have transferred you the money. Once they have, you’ll see a new status link next to the stake - "Confirm winnings were sent", which you’ll click once you’ve gotten your payment on Stars. The status message should now read ‘You have received your share of the winnings’
    6. The stake will not show as complete in your My Stakes area until the horse confirms payment to PartTimePoker.
      • That’s it – if it seems confusing at all, browse through the forums for examples, or post questions in the PartTimePoker Help forum section of our forums before you try one. After one or two stakes, we’re pretty sure you’ll have the whole thing down, and, if you’re like the rest of our members, you’ll move on to more creative stakes that make staking even more fun.

  • How do I apply for a stake? accept a stake? close a stake?
  • How-to: Applying for Stakes
  • Remember, there’s no begging for stakes on PartTimePoker Staking - there’s only applying for stakes that have been placed in a Make A Deal Forum. People who beg for stakes will be warned and then geared if more begging happens, so please save us both the trouble and follow the rules.
  • Before you apply for stakes make sure your Poker Stars and your Full Tilt account names are set correctly in your Profile. To add your poker account names follow the directions in the following thread. "How do I set my poker screen names in my profile?"
  • Three steps to getting staked: Finding, Accepting, Closing
  • Step one: Finding a stake
    1. All stakes are advertised in the Make a Deal forums. Go to the forums and browse through the threads. Each thread contains a different stake offer. ONLY THREADS WITH COLORED STARS are open stakes. Greyed-out stars have already been awarded.
    2. IMPORTANT: You cannpt apply for stakes that are closed/accepted already, and more importantly stakes that you don’t qualify for. Don’t apply for stakes with a player’s name in the title – those are private stakes. Don’t PM or IM the person offering the stake. Everyone makes mistakes, but too many from the previous list will get you geared in a hurry.
    3. If you’ve made sure you’re eligible and you’d like to apply for the stake, simply reply to the thread with ‘I apply’ and some basic info about your stats if they are required or if you choose to. Do not PM or IM the person offering the stake. The only way to get staked on PartTimePoker is to reply to the thread that the stake’s offered in.
  • Step two: Accepting a Stake
    1. If you’re awarded the stake you will get an alert that will take you to your My Stakes area. Follow the link or click on the "Stake" link on the upper right of the page.
    2. Each stake on your list has a status message on the far right of the entry. At this point, you may be waiting on the staker, so your status message will read "waiting for staker to confirm". It often takes a few minutes for the staker to confirm the stake. Be patient.
    3. Once the staker has confirmed, your status message will be a link that says ‘Confirm Stake was Received’. Click it. You’ll be taken to a second Confirmation screen detailing how much money was transferred to you. Confirm the transfer in your poker account and click "accept".
    4. You’ll be taken back to your MyStakes page. If you don’t see any records, just click on the "My Stakes" link on the top, or hit refresh.
    5. A rail thread will automatically be created for you. The rail thread is where you post hand histories from your play - it basically allows the forum/staker to play along, which is half the fun of staking. At minumum you should post the tournament ID and bust/win hand in this thread. If your staker requests more, post more.
  • Step three: Closing the Stake
    1. After you’ve played the stake, you need to report the results. Reporting the results is CRITICAL to the site – without records, players and stakers have nothing to go on. You do not get any player points if you don’t report, which makes it harder for you to get stakes in the future.
    2. Win or lose, you still need to report. Go to My Stakes, click on the "Report Winnings" link in the status message. Enter the amount won (EVEN IF IT’S ZERO) and hit submit. Report the TOTAL AMOUNT WON. The system will handle dividing up the win, paying back the stake, calculating the 5%, etc.
    3. If you still have funds left the system will alert you how much to send after the staker has confirmed the proper amount was reported. The stake status should now read "Waiting for staker to confirm winnings".
    4. After the staker confirms, you will see a new status message that says "Pay Staker Share of Winning". Click on that and it tells you how much to send back to the staker. Transfer the amount to the Poker account of your staker.
    5. Now you wait for staker to confirm receipt of payment. After he/she does, the status link will now read “Pay 5%” (if you profited). Click on that and follow the instructions provided. This step is critical, if you don’t complete it, neither you nor the staker get points.
    6. The stake status should now read "Stake has been completed".

  • What is a private stake?
  • A private stake is just that, it is a stake meant for a certain person(s). They usually have the name of that person in the title for the thread. Just make sure that you read all the rules that the staker has posted and if you don't qualify then don't apply. This will keep you from getting HOP gear.

  • What is a rail thread?
  • A Rail thread is where you will keep the hands that your staker wants to see posted.
  • At a minimum for MAD stakes tourney ID# and bust had are required, for BAPs the player must provide what they detailed they would in their ad.
  • Your rail thread will be created automatically for you when you confirm the stake money was received or when you create a BAP ad.
  • You are to post in this thread for your staker.

  • Just finished a stake, when/how much do I send?
  1. You will ship only after the staker has confirmed your winnings.
  2. Your first step will be to close your stake.
  3. After you do that you will get a notification at the top of your screen telling you that one or more of your stakes has been updated.
  4. Once you click that, it will tell you the exact amount to ship to your staker.
  5. Ship at that time whether your staker is online or not.
  6. Once the staker confirms receipt of the funds being shipped back you will be prompted to pay 5% of your winnings to payneverbeg (if you profited).

  • What amount do I enter as winnings?
You will enter the total amount won, for example if you got a stake for a $1.10 MTT and you cashed for a total of $1.50. You will enter $1.50. The sytem will then do the math for you and tell you what you are to send back to the staker.

  • In a multi game stake when will I need to enter my winnings?
You will enter your winnings for a multi game stake after all the games have been completed.

  • What do I do if I made a mistake when entering my winnings?
If you make a mistake when entering your winnings, you need to go the the Fix My Bap/Stake section and post in there. You also need to PM you backer so that he is aware that you made the mistake and that you are actively trying to get it fixed. You can find an explaination on how to format your request here:

Formatting your post in Fix My Bap/Stake (Please read all rules before posting)

  • How do I pay PartTimePoker Staking
Payments to PartTimePoker Staking
  • You can now pay using either Pokerstars or Full Tilt (and any other site we set up in the future) regardless of which site the stake/BAP is for. This will give you extra flexibility in paying for Player Points.
  • Stake PP payments now work like BAP PP payments. You do not need to check using a form. Simply send the *exact* amount to any site setup in the system. Once payment is made the site will automatically close the stake and award PPs.
  • All stake and BAP payments for Player Points are now mandatory. You will have one week to pay for Player Points, otherwise you will not be allowed to offer or apply for stakes or BAPs.

    • Payments can be sent to the following sites.
      • PS - payneverbeg (toronto)
      • FTP - rbnation
        • Avatar - Clown
        • City - M
  • There is now a credit system in place, so if you over pay for player points or a BAP ad you will have credit tracked in the system which will be applied to your next payment. This will assist with sites that have a $5 minimum transfer in place.

  • What is gear?
Gear is what you get when you receive an infraction on the site. There are 7 types of gear:
  • Hooked on Phonics (HOP) - This is issued when a member fails to follow a site rule.
  • Beggar - This is issued to a member that begs for a stake, begging is not allowed on this site.
  • Bad Rail - Issued when a member fails to provide a proper rail.
  • Investigation Gear (IG) - Issued when a member has issue(s) with their poker accounts or has a matching IP with another member that has IG, DNS, or is banned.
  • Do Not Stake (DNS) - Issued after a member resolves a monetary issue, this is to serve as a warning to other members.
  • Do Not Stake + Mad Ban (DNS* or DNS+MAD) - Issued when a member has issue(s) with a stake or BAP or anything that has to do with money.
  • Former Do Not Stake (FDNS) - Rarely issued, but may be given to a member that has shown they are deserving.

The following link gives a detailed explanation of each type of gear gear.

  • How do I request gear?
To request gear, you will need to post in the Report Abuse Section. Make sure that you provide all the information that is needed for the site staff to make a ruling, this includes links, descriptions of the issue, and anything else that may need to be mentioned. You can find an explanition on how to format your thread here:

You can also view the description of the different types of gear here:

  • I got gear, now how do I go about getting it removed?
You got gear due to violating a site rule, to get the gear removed you will need to go to the Appeals Forum and post an appeal there. You will need to provide any information that you may think is relevant to your case. A member of the site staff may ask for more information to be posted or emailed to them for further review. You can find directions on how to format your thread here:
Formatting your Appeals Thread (Please read all rules before posting)
There is also a time frame on when you can begin your appeal. You can find out that answer in the Gear Description page.

  • What is a BAP?
    • BAP = Buy a Piece
    • This is where a player can pay a small fee to post an ad for themselves to recieve multiple backers, so that they can run a series of games of their choice.
    • Rules and Rates

  • What if I want to invest in a BAP?
You can invest in a BAP by searching throughout the Buy A Piece section and then posting that you wish to buy some shares in. You should post in there how many shares you want and wether you are shipping funds at that point or if you are wanting to reserve those shares to pay for them later. You also need to specify if you are wanting makeup/cake or not.
