Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person like you who makes the choice to donate. There is no substitute for your donation.
When you make a blood donation, you join a very select group. Currently only 3 out of every 100 people in America donate blood.
I've been a blood donor for many years, starting off donating whole blood and eventually moving over to
Apheresis, where I've donated plasma and platelets basically every two weeks for the last few years. In total, I've donated somewhere between 15 and 20 gallons of blood now.
Unfortunately, I am now being deferred for one year because of my honeymoon to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. I am ineligible to donate until next December, so that's where you guys come in. You're going to help make up for my lack of donations by donating in place of me.
To qualify for this stake, you will need to donate blood between now and 11/30/10. I'd like to make this open for plasma/platelet donors as well, but a lot of places pay for those donations already (the one where I donate does not), so this is going to be for whole blood donations only. In the U.S., donors are eligible to donate whole blood every 56 days, meaning you could donate as many as six times between now and when I become eligible to donate again.
For every time you donate, you'll get a stake, as follows:
First Donation: $11 stake
Second Donation: Two $11 stakes ($22)
Third Donation: $26 stake
Fourth Donation: Two $26 stakes ($52)
Fifth Donation: Nothing but the satisfaction of knowing you saves a stranger's life, and my utmost respect.
I am aware that many people do not meet the
donor eligibility requirements and will be unable to apply for this stake. Hopefully for every person reading this who is ineligible, there will be an eligible person this motivates to make a donation.
RULES and REQUIREMENTS:
1. No DNS or New Player gear.
2.
In order to qualify for any stake in this thread, you must provide specific, photographic proof of your donation. You must post a picture of you, taken DURING your donation, holding a piece of paper with your PTP user name and the date written on it. If you would prefer to write something besides your PTP username on the paper (your real name, "I <3 TP", whatever), that's fine, but you must include the date and you must be clearly visible in the picture. I'm sure the staff will be happy to snap a photo of you. Cell phone pics are fine.
3. Each stake will be 50/50 with Makeup, in accordance with my
Makeup Rules (meaning it is salable).
4. You will be allowed to play the Poker Stars/Full Tilt $11/$26 MTT of your choice, but I strongly suggest you play a scheduled MTT with a guaranteed prize pool, or a $26 90 man KO.
5. Rail can be light, but must include tourney ID(s) and bust hand.
6. If you are playing any other stakes/BAPs, you must make it clear to me and your other backer(s) ahead of time which tourney(s) will be for this stake.
7. You may post serious questions, comments, encouragement to others, etc. in this thread, but DO NOT bother applying without meeting the above requirements. If you donated yesterday, no worries - you'll still be able to reach all four levels of stakes before this closes. The same is true if you forget to take a pic during one of your donations. You can still easily donate four more times to max out the stake before the deadline.
I think that covers everything. I look forward to many applicants over the next year.
