Rebuy MTT Stakes
People, stop giving out stakes for rebuys with 3-5 BI's. THink about what you're doing. You're:
A.) Limiting your horse's equity after the 1st hour.
B.) Forcing him to play to "not lose" after 1 or 2 beats that are inevitable in micro-lo stakes rebuys.
You hurt yourself and your horse's expectation. You should be staking rebuys to get your horse to the FT in mind. Rebuys are high variance because the fields are so large and staking them can't be +EV. But if you're gonna do it, give your horse a shot to at least make a significant cash.

if someone was to stake you in a 3r, how many rebuys would make you feel comfortable? just curious. im not a real experienced rebuy player.

I honestly feel comfortable with 3-5 BIs. Double rebuy at the start, and the addon is 3. Maybe if I bust, another double rebuy and the addon is 5. I play a pretty conservative game in the first hour but can usually amass 12-15k in chips after the hour. Deepstacked poker then comes into play and the best players *should* rise to the top. I have been successful in the few rebuy events that I play and I am more than comfortable with 3-5 BIs. To each his own, I suppose.

IMHO, 5 is a solid number of units. This is for either $3, $5 or $10 rebuys.
My distribution is as follows (more or less):
75% of rebuys, 3 - 5 units
15-20%, 6 or 7 units
5-10%, would go over 7 so drop out in the first hour

It really depends on my mood and my table. I've been crazy moods and dropped 3 BI's and I've been in non-attentive moods and dropped 10 just running bad catching good starting hands at crazy tables.
For a stake, 7's not bad, but 9 is better. Mainly I'm saying that a horse shouldn't feel like he's in a corner with a limit. He's not playing to break-even or barely cash and if so, it's the wrong horse.

Gotta +1 this. Having a big stack in a rebuy is pretty crucial...even though guys can play shortstack poker, their real talent should be in their midstacked or bigstacked game.
Certain rebuys you can limit to 5 (i.e. $11's or $22's) but I think the more rebuys, the better. The first paylevel normally covers like 8 units anyways. Staking 9 and having your horse cash is really only losing one unit. Normally they go up by a unit and then some after the first cash.
