Default I'm looking to compile a Sit 'n Go guide

Basically, the guide would help guide players to good plays and strategies at each level of each type of game. We'd start at the bottom with $1.20 45-mans, $1.10 45-man turbo, and $1.75 18-man games. We'd move up to $3.40's, even get into HU (both regular and turbo). The sole purpose of this guide will be to increase the profits made on this site by both players and stakers alike. As we move up, the guide will get more detailed. By a certain point we'll describe different types of opponents and ways of reading their play. This guide will probably top out somewhere in the $50 range, but if it shows more promise, we could bring it to the top stakes.

If this goes well, I would also like to do it for various cash games and MTT formats.

Also, anyone working with me on this guide must be willing to keep the content private. We want to prevent random lurkers from picking up our strategies, and reward people who are actually loyal users here.

The part of the guide I'll probably work on first will be something simple (though also something I've played effectively) the $5.50 9-man SNG.

PS - I am not interested in just NLHE, anyone with mixed game experience would be dandy. This guide could end up being 50 pages or more. If you want to work, AIM is my preferred method of contact.

I think a guide could be a good idea, but it has to be pretty open-ended. One of the biggest problems a player can have is getting to mechanical in his plays. Playing the exact same way everytime is definitely not good. I think it's easy to develop a negative pattern when following a guide closely. and also, it would be tough to keep it private, since anyone can view this site =\

i like the idea. i'd also like some videos to be included, those can be done pretty easily, and you can explain your thought for a play in real time. for the privacy issue, that's not that much of a problem, just host them archived with a badass long password you only give away privately.

+1 i think my biggest slumps come when i find a style that works well and i get caught up in just playing that way instead reading oppenets and playing on feel and instinct

Just my two cents ...

There is not "one right way" to play SnGs, as there is not one right way to play MTTs. A LAG SnG player who floats alot and raises with a wide variety may have the same end results as a typical TAG who is able to change speeds at the end of the game.

What sorts of things did you have in mind?

Remember - a guide is just that, while a manual is far more structured, allowing for fewer player differences.

Well, I like the points brought up about getting mechanical, etc. The guide would serve not to restrict the players, but to open them up to different choices, and their validity in specific situations at different levels. We all know that beating the $1.20 field is a world away from beating the $11 field. Like any poker literature it would aim to help them to determine for themselves what the right play at the right time is. The main difference here is that this guide would differentiate from level to level. I'm not aware of what poker authors elsewhere have done on the subject, but it definitely seems to be the best way to go for NBs purposes.
