Default Potential Pyramid.

Seen them run, have participated in one, now I'm looking to stake one.

Just kind of wanted to run it by here, whats the best series to run for multiple levels of competition, who the best horses are to run in this, any suggestions would be appreciated(for those that have run this type of series staked).

Was thinking maybe a big one, try and get people involved and start small...

(Top 2 move on to a 50/180 SNG, winner wins)
(Top people move on sorta deal)

Winner would get a HUGE prize, such as a 162 nightly entry, 100 MTT, 500 MTT Heeb, a Sunday Million, or maybe like a 500 SNG series stake.

Let me know any feedback on this.

Alot of money I'd be heebing out on each step, so obviously would like to hear from the best about the best and once this pyramid does indeed go out, the best can and are expected to apply.

These are awsome idea's and have a potential to yield alot of profit if the right players are chosen. i would start it off on the $11/180 Level and move up the ladder. but as far as the idea it's self goes... it's a great idea and has the potential to make alot of money

GoodLuck with it.

I agree that you would probably want to start with somewhat of a large field (180). $4.40 180 man might be the best place to start, then certain number move to $11 180 then to $22 180, then $55 90 man. Winner would then get your prize. This method should really find the best player the majority of the time. I feel 180 is a pretty good size field to run this. A field of thousands may have your top player finishing in 200th place. Also, with everyone starting on an equal playing field of 180 players makes things more fair. You could do a point system with a players finish and size of field, but that could be a lot of work.

What I learned from my experience:

I ran a pyramid that started with 10 $4.40 180s, top 5 got a $10 180, top 3 got a $20 180, top finisher received a $50 90-peep.

so ... 10, 5, 3, 1

What I saw for pros and cons:

Because I specified "Top finishes", no one had to earn money to move up to the next level. As a result, you may end up making ZERO back if this is the model. Unlikely but possible. Level 1, 4.40s, saw a few people just barely money and was a losing round. Round 2, $10, saw 1 money finish (this was a 2nd place, which basically paid for the whole pyramid). Round 3, $20s, no money finishes. Round 4, a 50 and the top of my pyramid, he cashed (Guitey, the same one who had the 2nd place finish) and resulted in an overall profit for the pyramid.

Top runners may have a bad round and fall out due to this ... I saw this happen with Eppy, who I consider a top-player on this site. Makes me think a "point system" is best as they move up the pyramid.

Having a broad base for the pyramid allows you to try horses (inexpensively) that you hadn't worked with before.

One rule I made was that none of the horses had to run together (they could if they wished), until I got down to 3 ... I used to give out 3 and 4 stakes in the same 180 SnGs and always stipulated that horses run the same event. Too hard to manage with over 4 or 5 I'd say. Once down to 3, pretty easy. The rationale for this is apparent - you've increased your odds of a significant cash for this event.

That's all the pyramid feedback i have for now.

starting at the 180 pyramid could be a bit risky esp if you have a large amt of horses.

it might be better to stick to 9 man or 18 man tables esp if the higher end of the pyramid deals with $100+ sngs. but if your end goal is the nightly 150 or sunday mill maybe 180's is the right thing since thats more of the style you will need to win it.

gettin the top 20 best/hottest players is prob +ev in the long run
