Default 200NL HU - 2P misplayed flop

I had been playing with villain for a while and he has a pretty solid game. He has a creative TAG style of play and has setup traps a couple times. He has reraised & re-reraised me with pockets a few times, so I had a feeling he had something like 88-QQ here. I have been playing a very solid game and I think he respects my play... So this was a very interesting hand and I really misplayed the flop here.

Now, my pre-flop play is pretty aggressive, but I like it. It let me know that he was strong. On the flop, I decided to check because that flop definitely fit the range I was putting him on and I didn't want to end up against a set with top and bottom two. He bet out $30 and I could have jammed here, but I instead smooth called. I am wondering if I should have led out on the flop, or check/shoved this flop. If I led out and I was against a set, I would have probably gone broke this hand. If I checked shoved and he had a set, once again, I would have been broke. He also could have had something like JJ and called with an inside straight draw if I shoved, but that is probably unlikely, as he would probably put me on AK or something.

Do you like a call here for potential pot control, or do you think I should have been betting this flop?

The turn was a very dangerous card for me, now giving a J a straight, and AJ (another possible hand) the nut straight... He bet out $50... This bet really worried me because it was a pseudo-value bet. If he had a set here, I could possibly get him off that hand with the 10 because he may think I have a jack here, and at this point, I have already invested a good chunk into this hand, so I at least have to call here, but a call would look weak so in all honesty, this is a jam/fold situation. I either fold because I know I am beaten, or I jam and try to win the pot, or hopefully hold the best hand... I went with the latter of the two and check/shoved.

Now, looking back at this hand, I really don't like my post-flop play, but I don't think it is terrible. Opinions on this hand?

Thanks

The mini reraise bothers me a lot. When I see people doing it I consider them nitty and am usually right (not saying you are nitty or anything lol). Maybe it's not a bad play at all, but I just never do it and cannot stand when my opponents do it. When a player standard raises to 6 on the button, my minimum 3 bet amount HU is to at least 18.

But the way the hand was played I am definitely getting most or all of my stack in on this flop.

I think that every street of this play is terrible. PF the re raise is too small, and I honestly don't re raise this hand often at all, usually it's not profitable. OTF, you have to raise here, flat calling isn't good unless he's a pure maniac sitting there 3 barrelling all day etc.

OTT, this is one of the worst cards for your hands, but I'm probably getting it in anyways.
