Default Live 1/3 NL Question

I was talking to a guy who I see at the poker room pretty much everytime I'm there. He plays 1/3 NL only. He told me he makes a living at this game. I don't know if he is lying or not. He is a solid player, who could easily play the 5/10 NL game, but he says he makes enough money at the 1/3 table with a lot less risk. I understand his point, it is why I play 1/3 more than the 2/5 game.

Is it possible to make a living at 1/3? What is a good hourly rate for an above average player? Keep in mind this is live only. He doesn't play online. If he played several 1/2 tables online, I could see it. I'm just kind of intrigued.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Default probaly depends

probaly depends you know, somee people go to work everyday and take home 400 a week for 40 hours and dont necesssarily have much but payt bills, i think alot of times if a person says they paly for a living pro poker player etc they think big money, maybe hes content making 400 500 a week maybe more on a good week as opposed to a 10 an hour job all week. im sure he could see wing at least 300 to 500 playin solid all week if he was a good play after up and down swings.

It depends on how comfy you want to 'live'.... I could very well make a living at the 1/2 tables... I average about 23$ an hour... I could easily pull in anywhere from 500-1000 a week playing about 9-13 hour sessions.... However, I dont enjoy the swings of the games. So I just use the 1/2 tables to supplement my income. However, if you are still living at home and all that fun stuff, I could totally see someone just playing the 1/2 tables for primary source of income.

Good luck at the tables!

you can make a living multitabling 1/2NL online. though, the play is 100x better than what youd see at a 1/3NL live game.
