Default Bust hand from my final table tonight (it was a tough one)

Alright this guy has been chip leader and the most aggressive at the table for a while now.

I was trying to keep the pot small which is why I didn't reraise.

I thought a long time on this hand and when I called I really thought he was on a bluff. (2 overs)

Thoughts on the hand? Did I play it too weak? Do you let the hand go?

id be going broke on that board if i saw a flop

after his raise though the pot is ~50k and if this guy is running the table and constantly raising id consider jamming just to back him off and let him know youre not the guy to be messing with. nines hate alot of flops and hes gona play you off of your hand maybe 2/3 of the time if you flat. Theres not much chance hes got a hand that has you crushed and if he does oh well
you shouldnt mind flipping either as long as youre the one pushing and hes the one who has to decide whether to call (i admit he should be able to put you on a mid pp if you jam but he shouldnt want to jeopardize his chiplead and dominant position just becasue hes getting good odds to flip)

this is a similar situation to one i faced recently except the savvy agro player had direct position on me every hand except for my button. i let him see a flop at a hefty price after 3 betting hard with my TT but he hit the one over that fell and i went bust on a go and go.
even 40 bbs deep jamming to take 5bb 90+% of the time doesnt seem like too bad of an idea when your on the rail

Yeah PF is the issue here. If he's been really aggro, 99 is way ahead of his range, so a raise is in order. I understand trying to keep the pot small, but I think this is a bad time to do it.

yes I definitely wished I could have reraised here preflop, knowing he had A2. But here was kind of my thought process, he is the chip leader and has been very aggressive. I resecently went on a not too bad run of cards and have shown quite a lot of aggression. (giving my reraise less value)

I didn't reraise because I cant RR AI here, and I thought he would 3bet very lightly. And I don't want to be put to a decision all in pre flop with 99.

So yes I did play this hand very weak in an attempt to keep the pot small. And I believe against a good player it would have been fairly small.

I'm not shocked that this guy bet huge with trips (because that was my read on him, aggro), but I think a more competent player would have recognized the possibility of a flush and tried to keep the pot small.

So my problem was giving the other player more credit than I should have. I thought if he had trips or a high pp he would be competent enough not to build a huge pot because of the flush draw. So that's why I made the call thinking he was bluffing.

Reraise preflop please.

PROBABLY folding to a shove, read-dependant.

You let yourself lose this hand by not re-raising preflop. Also, I'd shove flop as played.

basically a go and go on 80 percent of flops here, like i said hes a huge lag and could have any semi playable hand, the push option is viable but im taking blinds 19/20 times and fliping or crushed the rest of the time and he knows exactly where im at imo. i just cant see flatting here since im waaaaay ahead of his range the Qxx flop seemed very favorable till he snap called lol...

theres gona be scare for TT on tons of flops if i flat and even if theres not hes liable to have an indistinguishable 2 pair. this guy is way too good for this buy in (i checked his opr and he took down a decent buy in tourney fairly recently but i didnt have to look to know) i really would like to know how you fight back at a guy who has pos on you, floats, resteals, makes good reads attacks weakness wisely but cautiously and has a CL. this seat is very -ev and theres no way around that but to get agressive and gamble with him and try to take him out or to be a puss and try to fold up. in this case i opted for a go and go esque play and thats that, didnt work out. i mean do i only play hands on my button and push AI on him whenever he standard raises and i have a hand or what?

flat call, raise-folding when he minreraises me or ck-folding is just such a bitch move here and pushing seems like a waste (obv wouldve been better the way it played out but whatev)....

any other ways to approach this situation in general or this hand in particular?

3 bet that preflop next time, with those stacks no need to play 99 OOP.

Shove his flop raise, but as played fold the turn.
