multi-tabling
advice please i want to get better at playing a lot of tables. how would you recomend i do it
and also some strat for multi-tabling would be nice. are you in push-bot mode for the most of it or do you actually pick up any reads while playing maybe 10 tables?

I would start with 4 and Sharkcsope all 4 tables, note the sharks (not fish) and play accordingly.
There are usually more fish than sharks so its easier to predict what they do, weak players usually dont understand sng strat, so you will more than likely be reading them wrong anyway.

sng's for me are just automatic action. pretty mundane. i can't imagine playing liess than 6 at a time.

agree, but unless it is automatic for you, it would be nice to know who the solid winners are and avoid with marginal hands.
weak players tend to pay you off with weak holdings

sure. as you said note the sharks.
it really shouldn't adjust your play that much imo.
SNGs are really sooo standard. Sure you could probably 2-4 table them at a higher ROI by making reads, but it is easier to make more bottom line profit playng 8+ at a time.
The same argument is made for playing turbos. More variance so lower ROI, but you can play twice as many so beating turbos at 10% is better than beating normal ones at 15%.

multi tabling takes alot of practice, start with 4 like someone said. It is pretty easy once you get used to it but does tend to get difficult when the tables become short handed. Most of your decisions are pretty easy. You know your going to fold 2/7 on one table and you know your going to raise AK on the other. Just play fast and you will find the auto buttons on the bottom very usefull when it comes to checking and folding. Also another tip if your using a single monitor like i do. Make sure you have your screen set to the smallest windows settings. You can view 9 tables on a 19" monitor. Once you get the hang of things you will be able to play 9 at a time and even have about 10 seconds of down time here and there. Good Luck

first of all, monitor size doesn't matter. resolution does.
fwiw, i like just viewing 1 table at a time. i maximize all my tables and when its my action on any given table, that table comes into view.
most people don't like this, but i think it helps me enough to not play results oriented to be +EV for me.

you said you could view 9 tables on a 19" monitor. i'm saying it doesn't matter if the monitor is 15" or 50"... resolution determines how many tables you can view on the screen at a time.

sort of.
when you buy a monitor for poker, resolution is the most important spec. a 27" monitor that is 1366x768 or 1280x720 is going to dissapoint in a big way... while newer generation 19-24" lcd's can have some pretty sick resolutions.
also gotta make sure video card (or onboard mobo video) supports higher resolutions.
1440x900 is the absolute minimum resolution i'd play on. i like playing on my 1920x1080 40" TV but you can get way higher resolutions than that.

not even close. 1920x1080 is good resolution, but thats about the same as most PC's with a 19" monitor. So really, I can't play that many but the tables are just big.

Not sure if you do this already but I read somewhere you should not start them all at the same time, but rather 2-4. Then say 3 levels later start another 2-4. This way when the blinds are higher you can have more time to think about it at every group of tables. And you wont be playing heads up on 8-12 tables at once.

there are several ways to go about it. i do what works for me. here is what i do:
fire up 12 as close to the same time as possible. because blind sizes wil be relatively close, i don't have to constantnly switch gears between playing at 10-20 and 200-400. i prefer this.
other people will start 8-12 and then start a new one each time they bust out of one. this maximizes volume.
as for getting HU on 8-12 tables simultaneously... I think you would have to 30 table for that to happen.
if i start 8 at the same time, i rarely cash in more than 4 or 5. rarely would get heads up in more than 3. and even under these optimal circumstances, if one happened to go quick and another was a real grind fest the fast moving one might be over before the grind fest even hits the bubble...

i'm not a huge multitable player, but just add a table every time you feel really comfortable with what you are playing. if you are comfortable playing 3 add a 4th, if u are comfortable with 6, add a 7th until you feel comfortable enough to add an 8th and so on

from what i understand you will generally lose some equity when playing so many tables but the volume should more than make up for it.
i am a 2-3 table guy for the most part, but i've considered going to 8 tables or more many times and have read up on it

i don't go into pushbot mode any quicker. just because i am 8 tabling doesn't mean i play the hands any differently. probably play tighter naturally early on but once it gets down to the bubble, i'm not still going to be at all the tables i started...
if a 3bb raise is what needs to be done, i do it. if shoving is what needs to be done, i do it. reads don't really change that much for me.
